CST simulation using Performance cores vs. efficient cores in Intel Processors

Intel's 12th generation processors introduced the concept of performance cores(heavy-duty work) and efficient cores(used for background tasks), aiming to get work done while minimizing energy consumption. 

 

For CST simulation however, this means the efficient cores are not used during the simulation, only the performance cores will be used. This has caused confusions for many customers. As an example, let's say the customer is using the Intel Core i9-14900K with 24 advertised cores, 8 performance cores and 16 efficient cores, giving you a total of 24 cores. It may sound great for the consumer buying a processor like this for heavy duty scientific calculation, in reality though, only the 8 performance cores will be used. There was some reporting discrepancy in CST 2023 and is now fixed in CST 2024. The log file will report the correct number of cores used for the CST model run, that is, CST will use the 8 performance cores to run the model.
